The founder of the Tetra Pak company was Ruben Rausing in 1951. Rausing was a Swedish businessman who founded an earlier packaging company together with his business partner Erik Ackerlund. The original company was just named after its founders (Rausing was born Anderssen but changed his name to Rausing to fit his nickname) but after the invention of the new form of packaging the name eventually became Tetra Pak.

The packaging itself, the tetrahedron packaging (from its shape) was invented by Erik Wallenberg in 1944. Wallenberg was a Swedish engineer who was asked by Rausing to produce a form of milk packaging that would be cheaper and more efficient than glass bottles. He succeeded, Rausing adopted the idea and by 1951 the company had changed its name to fit the new invention.

Today Tetra Pak is the world's biggest maker of food processing and food packaging solutions, and most of us use some of their products regularly without knowing it - milk and orange juice cartons are the obvious examples. You can get an overview of the company here.
