It seems pretty sure that they are, although there have been a lot of rumours about exactly what they are going to do and when. Originally they were going to do a big 50th anniversary tour this year (2012) but have said that they are just not ready and it will have to be next year instead. Although this is not given as an official reason, Keith Richards has had some severe health problems which would make it difficult for him to tour this year.

It has also been said that the Stones may perform at Glastonbury next year. It's not yet clear whether they would be doing this as their farewell tour, or whether it would be just one of several gigs next year.

In any case, after 50 years it's not surprising if the band are thinking of retirement. They are so famous now that even their tribute bands command big audiences!
