Yes, anyone at all visiting Myanmar (or Burma) is required to have a visa. You can get a tourist visa which is valid for 28 days, and which can be extended for another two weeks after that. If you go there on business you can also get a business visa which lasts longer.

Burma has been trying to encourage tourism for a long time, but in the past many people preferred to boycott the country because of the repressive regime there, and because the elected leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who was kept under house arrest, had asked travellers not to go there. But since she has been freed and the regime is showing signs of reform, many more people are interested in going there.
