What is the play Privacy about?

This new play is now being performed in London. It was written by James Graham and is showing at the Donmar Warehouse.
This play is unusual from the start - audience members are asked to agree to have their data shared. Then they are invited to take selfies before the play starts. These are then emailed to a researcher, and while the play is on the researcher uses the selfies to get people's smartphone data, which can then be revealed on a screen.
The main subject of Privacy is the leaks made public by Edward Snowden last year, in which it was revealed how much spying on citizens is carried out by government agencies; but the impact of the play is in showing just how easy it is to get hold of our personal information. Audience members were shocked to see their intimate lives shown up on a screen, just from some easily accessed smartphone data.
