English is one of the main or official languages in at least five countries: India, Pakistan, Brunei (Darussalam), the Philippines and Singapore.
In Pakistan it is the main official language and often spoken by better-off people among themselves as well as being the main administrative language. This is similar to the Indian situation: Inida has several officical languages, but English is most often used as a common language. In the Philippines, it is used in universities and some schools as the main language of instruction.
As well as these countries, there are several more Asian countries where English is widely used and often used to communicate between people who speak different first languages within one country. This is true in Bahrain and Indonesia to name two examples - you can find more here.
Due to the continuing importance of the USA in world terms, it is quite likely that English will continue to be used in different countries for some time, especially now that new technology like the internet has made global communication so important. However, other languages, for example Mandarin and Spanish, are also growing in popularity.
