What are career jobs?

The difference between a job and a career is that a job is just some work you do. It could be for just a day or last all your life, but it's just work. Your career is the direction you go in your working life and includes training, development and, very often, several different jobs.

The kind of jobs that lead to a career are those with a lot of different roles within the organization, where you may start doing something quite basic but over time you reach a more responsible position, perhaps in management or training. You can have a career in just about anything, but big companies will often offer more opportunties for advancement (though it's often worth taking a job with a smaller one to gain experience at the start.)

To plan your career, start by thinking: what can I do already? what am I good at? What skills do I have or need to get? You will find helpful advice here.
