There is a website called Bowienet which is running, but confusingly this is actually a site dedicated to horse racing and has nothing to do with David Bowie. The site is run by Bill Bowie, who sells software to horse races. Bill Bowie owns the domain name, and apparently there has been no offer by David Bowie to buy it.

David Bowie's actual site was called Bowienet, but has an address of www.davidbowie.com, and this one is down at the moment. The whole thing has caused a lot of comment, because of course Bowie (David, not Bill) was one of the first celebrities to really get the idea of the internet, and he launched bowienet back in the 1990s when it was by no means the norm to have a fan site. He also seems to have largely run it himself and kept it updated. However, from about 2002 onwards this began to wind down, and there has been nothing much going on at bowienet for some years now.
