It's not quite the same, but one famous woman in UK football
is Karren Brady, the former managing director of Birmingham City. She is now
the vice chairman of West Ham United.


Brady has had a long career in football; she became director
of Birmingham City at the age of just 23 in 1993, and stayed there until 2009.
She was considered a major factor in the club’s commercial success; when she
took the job it was in a very poor financial state, but by the time she left it
was worth over £80 million.


Apart from her football career, Karren Brady has been well
known to the wider public since she started appearing on The Apprentice in 2009
– she had worked for the show previously, but was now employed as one of Alan
Sugar’s assistants, who advise him on which candidates on the show have the
greatest business potential.
