As a Spaniard, I can say the most popular English pop bands in Spain are The Beatles, extremely influential, and the Rolling Stones, with a strong ascendence over a generation of Spanish pop/rock bands.

Also, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Cure, the Police and more recently Oasis and Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead rank high among the British pop bands that almost any Spaniard would mention.

Undoubtedly the most famous of all British bands, even today, is the Beatles. Although they formed in 1960 - over 50 years ago - and broke up in 1970, they are still played all over the world today. Beatlemania - when young people, especially girls, almost literally went crazy over the band - was a new phenomenon at the time and changed popular culture for ever.

Otherwise there are too many British bands to list here. Among the most classic names there are, to name a few, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Black Sabbath, the Jam - but it's impossible to choose. There are also bands like the Zombies and the Yardbirds, who were very popular in their day but less known now (though the Zombies are still performing and still sound great).

These are just names from the 1960s and 70s, but you can find as many more from the last 40 years. if you put 'great UK pop' or similar in a search engine, you can get lists from the 1960s up to the present.
