How do you deal with a colleague who is stubborn and always making excuse for his wrong doings?

The main thing is not to get into an argument, as this could also put you in the wrong. The next time your colleague refuses to cooperate or take responsibility for a mistake, you could try quietly and politely pointing out to him what his duties are in this matter; but if you have no seniority over him there isn't much you can do alone.

First, I suggest that you make a note of time and place, and what was said, as accurately as you can, whenever your colleague does something which makes it harder for you and others to do your jobs properly. Then perhaps have a quiet word with others who you know have also had problems with him; together you may be able to persuade him to change his attitude. If not, the next step is probably to talk to your line manager or boss. Hopefully you don't need to make a formal complaint at this stage, just explain your concerns; give specific examples rather than general complaints and try to remain calm! Hope this helps.
