The I love NY logo was created by the graphic designer Milton Glaser for a campaign of promotion of the city commissioned by the New York State Department of Commerce.
Glaser's original presentations and sketches were donated to the Museum of Modern Art.
The logo is trademarked although you can find thousands of illegal imitations in many souvenir shops of the city.
