The director of this film is Marc Preston Webb. His other major film was (500) Days of Summer in 2009. Very different from the Spider-Man project, this is a romantic comedy-drama starring Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It tells the story of a young woman who believes love is an illusion and has to be convinced otherwise.

Before Days of Summer, Webb made a number of shorter videos and music films, directing famous musicians like P Diddy. One odd feature of his work is that he likes to include a shot of a white lamb in some of his films (though I don't know whether you will see one in the Amazing Spider-Man).

Marc Webb has described the experience of directing this film as complex and very satisfying. He was given the job after the original director, Sam Raimi, left the project and it was decided to create a rebooted version with a very different director.
