This is a very subjective question to answer, it is difficult to be objective here but I am going to try!. I believe both teams deserved the gold medal as both played a magnificient basketball final which everyone enjoyed.

However, the US team had a plus of freshness and an amazing effectiveness in triple shots which made the difference with Spain. To every Spanish attempt at getting closer to the US, these replied with a triple or a dunk that reaffirmed their supremacy. It is very notieable that Spain made the almighty US team suffer till the very end of the game, something any team has achieved in these olympics, with the exception of Lithuania (80-88).

It is also important to mention the fact that Ricky Rubio was injured, Navarro was playing with a foot injury and Pau Gasol was clearly showing signs of tiredness despite its very positive contribution to the game.
