Yes, the Davis Cup is a men's tennis event. The main event for women is the Fed Cup, which was established in 1963. It used to be known as the Federation Cup.

The Davis Cup is much older; it goes back to 1900, when most tennis events were men-only anyway. Both the Davis and the Fed Cups are organised by the International Tennis Federation.

When the Davis Cup first started it was only a tournament between Britain and the US. The US is still by far the most successful competing nation; it has won 32 times and been runner-up nearly as often.

Australia has also been very successul, winning 28 times, so the rest of the world has a lot of catching up to do! However, now more than 135 countries take part and the current champion nation is Spain. There have been 13 champion countries in total - you can see a list here.
