There are plans to do this as long as the organizers can find a suitable location. In the last few weeks they have been looking at possible venues in Manhattan, if possible in the East Village where the original club was housed. In the meantime, the spirit of the club is being revived in two ways.

The first is through a music festival which is being held at a number of different venues around Manhattan and Brooklyn in early July. Over 300 bands are expected to perform, and the emphasis is on new music styles rather than trying to return to the punk styles that made the club famous in its heyday in the 1970s.

The second way is through a film, 'CBCG' which tells the story of the club and its founder, Hilly Kristal, who died in 2007. The film is being made in Savannah, Georgia, but lots of memorabilia from the club is being sent to Georgia and used in the filming.
