The star of this 2012 film is Andrew Garfield. He has already played a number of roles and won acting awards, but up to now his best known part was in The Social Network in 2010. In this film he played one of Mark Zuckerberg's colleagues and co-founders of Facebook, Eduardo Saverin.

Garfield was born in the US and grew up in England. He began acting as a child, studied at drama school and appeared on both stage and screen. He has appeared in well known UK TV series like Dr Who and Sugar Rush, and in films such as The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus.

Andrew Garfield got the part of Spider-Man in the new film, after the originally planned Spider-Man 4 was cancelled. That film would have been directed by Sam Raimi and starred Tobey Maguire like the others in the series, but after Raimi and Maguire left it was decided to make a completely new film, depicting the hero as a high school student again.
