You're certainly not alone, though it can feel like it. Lots of us know that feeling of watching everyone else do all these moves that you've never seen and can't do yourself! But dancing is great fun and really good for you, so don't be put off.

Why not start at home? You could get tips from free dance sites or use YouTube - if you type in search terms like 'emergency dance moves' or 'dance help' you get helpful video clips and advice. Apart from that, it's helpful to put on some music you really like and listen to the rhythm. Just tap your toes or whatever until you can feel the beat, and then try moving your feet - just backwards and forwards is fine to start with.

You can also gain a lot of confidence from going to a dance class - even if it's not a style you're likely to use when you go out, you learn lots about rhythm and movement and you can bring it in to anything you do.

Finally, enjoy yourself! next time you go dancing, find someone who isn't using complicated moves - there is always someone - and stick close to them for the present. You'll soon have more confidence.
