You can ask but you can't earn.

You can ask all you want. In fact, it's fun asking for things in life. Don't expect to get anything you want.

As a matter of fact, it's shallow to ask someone -- be it your mother in law, spouse, children, relatives, colleagues, and friends -- to care for you, love you, listen to you, or to respect you.

True love, respect, and care comes from 'earning' it. You got to give to get it all. When you love, care, and respect others, that's when others will return it to you voluntarily, out of their own free will.
