Not exactly the real 'Gioconda' but a copy of the original can be seen at the Prado Museum in Madrid until the 13th of March 2012, then this copy will travel to Paris to be exhibited until the 25th of June at the Louvre Museum among other famous copies.

The 'Gioconda or Mona Lisa' of Madrid is considered the most important copy ever made of the masterpiece because according to the experts it was painted simultaneously by one of Leonardo daVinci's disciples. These experts cannot certify who is the author of this copy. They think it could be painted by either Francesco Melzi (famous disciple as well as lover of Leonardo) or perhaps Andrea Salai.

This copy is painted on board, has a size very similar to the original (original size: 77x53 cm. - copy: 76x57 cm.) and as a result of its new restoration we can appreciate volumes and colors that are hidden below the thick varnish that covers Leonardo's original.

If you want to see this painting in Spain, it will come back to its home in Madrid in the summer of 2012.
