You need first to think about what kind of winter vacation you would like - especially, are you looking for sun, winter sports or a city break, etc? Once you've decided on your type of holiday you can start looking more closely.

For a sunny break, try putting 'winter sun vacation' (plus US, for example, if that is where you live) and explore the links you find. If you want to go skiiing, try 'ski resorts' and so on until you get what you're looking for.

These are the typical winter vacations, but in the winter I often like to go to an interesting city for a few days. You don't really mind the weather because there are so many things to do indoors, it's usually easy to arrange with flights etc as most major cities have their own airport, and in winter even popular cities are less crowded.
