Do I need a license to ride a moped in the UK?

In order to ride a moped the following criteria must be met:
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- if you are 16 you must hold a provisional moped license.
- Complete a CBT course.
On completion of the CBT a DL 196 certificate is issued which validates the moped provisional license, this entitles you to ride a moped displaying L Plates for the validity of the CBT (2 years from issue).
