What are the strangest Olympic sports?

That would depend on your personal view. Many people, though, find synchronised swimming a strange sport. This does not mean that it's not a great sport - it is, and fantastic to watch - but it is unusual in lots of ways.

One thing that makes it unusual is that it depends on all the team members doing the same thing, which doesn't really happen in other sports. Also, more than other Olympic events it is about visual effect, so for example the contestants are required to keep smiling all the time (very hard to do as they're working extremely hard all the time).

It is also the only Olympic sport that is not open to men, though this will probably change as men do take part in it elsewhere. It has only been recognised as an Olympic sport since 1984.

In the 2012 Olympics the Russian team are currently in the lead.
