This has just been announced. The official Olympic song will be 'Survival' from rock band Muse.

Muse are a UK band consisting of three former schoolfriends originally from Devon. Their names are Matthew Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Christopher Wolstenholme. They formed in 1994, have released 5 albums and won several music awards, but being chosen for the Olympics will make them a household name all over the world.

Survival will be played at official Olympic venues at key moments; for example the time when athletes enter the stadium or when they are about to be presented with a medal.

According to vocalist and songwriter Matt Bellamy, the song was written especially for the Games, as he wanted it to be about the determination to win.

So far the response from the public has been very positive about the choice of official song. You can hear the full song here.
