Ian Fleming is the creator of the fictional 007 character - James Bond. While still servicing in the Naval Intelligence Division, Ian started writing Casino Royale (his first James Bond novel) at his Goldeneye estate in Jamaica on 17 February 1952. The book was published in 1953 through Jonathan Cape, a London based publisher.

Until his death in 1964, Ian wrote twelve novels and two short story collections featuring James Bond. After Ian's death, Kingsley Amis, Raymond Benson, Christopher Wood, Sebastian Faulks, John Gardner and Jeffery Deaver were authorised to write Jame Bond series.
