There are apparent benefits and then there are unapparent ones. You'd probably be well aware of the apparent ones such as a fitness regime that precedes and follows your sporting activity. This exercise is much needed in these days of couch dwelling and Internet dominance.

The unapparent benefits and how sporting benefits you:

  • Management and leadership lessons: Sporting helps you learn how to play with teams. Sooner or later, if you are good enough at the sport, you'll come to lead teams and gain respect from your team mates. That's a lot of precious lessons no management school, street, corporate life, etc., can teach you.
  • Strategy: Most games are as much about physical activity as it is about using your brains. In war, you will not only have to expend physical energy but also strategize, deploy tactics and win small battles to win the war. Sporting is just like war minus the bloodshed.
  • The vicious cycle of positivity: Think about sport as nicotine or smoking. The more you win in sport, the more you'd want to win. It's a never ending cycle of vicious cycle of positivity. Can you imagine what it does to your psyche? Don't you think your confidence explodes and makes you stronger and better?
