So far the planned total of closures stands at 103. It was announced early in February that 66 stores would be closing with a loss of almost 1000 jobs. Then later in the month it was said that the company would have to shut another 37 outlets, bringing the total to 103 and losing another almost 500 jobs. In Ireland there will be no high street HMV stores at all after the closures.
There were 233 HMV outlets in the UK before this happened, so now nearly half of the stores will be lost.

It was suggested earlier that some of the closures might be stopped, but this hasn't happened and it is looking unlikely now.
