The new Spanish language version of Snow White is called Blancanieves (Snow White in Spanish.) The director is Pablo Berger. Previously his best known work was a 2003 film, Torremolinos 73. This film is set in 1973 (hence the title) and is a comedy about a salesman and his wife who find themselves having to make 'adult' movies for a living. It stars comic actor Javier Camara and was generally well received by both critics and audience, especially for the way it recreates 1970s attitudes.

Blancanieves was apparently released in Spain in February 2012, but for English speaking countries there is no release date yet. The film is set in Madrid in the 1930s, so it's a modern realistic version rather than a fairy tale. The heroine escapes from her cruel stepmother to join some bull-fighters (the seven dwarfs).

More information should be available later this year!
