The best known silent film version of Snow White was released in 1912 and starred Margaret Clark. However, there is now a new silent Spanish version, Blancanieves, set in Madrid in the 1930s, directed by Pablo Berger. You can get some ideas about the film here, but so far no release date has been announced and it's not yet known how, or whether, it will be distributed in non-Spanish speaking countries. But even if it isn't, you should later be able to get the DVD.

There are so many new versions of Snow White now it's hard to keep track of them. The first of these, starring Julia Roberts as the evil stepmother, has now been released, and Mirror Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman are on their way too. There is also a new series from the producers of Lost, called Once Upon a Time, which uses the Snow White story among others.
