There are several presenters, but the most important one is the overall host for the evening. This year it was Seth Mc Farlane, who is best known as the creator of the US animated comedy Family Guy.
It is quite common for the Oscar presenter to get a lot of criticism, and it is a hard job - if the host avoids offending anyone he or she will probably be attacked for being too bland - but Mc Farlane has upset and/or annoyed more people than most. Several commentators have labelled him the worst Oscar host ever. Complaints included his jokes about Rihanna and Chris Brown - Brown has seriously assaulted the singer - and about Mel Gibson, whose prejudiced actions and remarks have made him almost a pariah in Hollywood. McFarlane was also accused of being self -indulgent and using the ceremony to talk about himself.
