Lists vary as there are so many beautiful villages in Spain, but there are a few places that everyone seems to agree about. Possibly the most loved of all these villages is Cadaques, a stunning small town in Catalonia to the north-east of Spain. Cadaques is a fishing port that has inspired a lot of artists, including Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso.
Cudillero is another favourite destination. This is another fishing port, in the Asturias region, and is famous for its old churches and fishermen's inns which are now much used by tourists. Being near some lovely hilltop views, it is also popular with walkers.
Hondarribia is in the Basque region near the French border, and like other places in this region is a great place to learn about the Basque language and culture. This beautiful village is on the edge of the river Bidasoa.
