Did you know that about 65% of the world’s population cannot digest milk or any of the related food items that’s derived from milk? At best, it causes them an upset stomach. The inability to digest milk or milk products is called “Lactose Intolerance”.

According to Jean Carper, who wrote two best selling books Miracle Cures and Food: Your Miracle Medicine, “Lactose intolerance is caused by a deficiency of lactase -- an enzyme that absorbs and digests the milk sugar ( lactose)”. The undigested milk sugar lingers in the colons causing intestinal stress which leads to upset stomach.

The U.S National Library of Medicine states that it’s common with the Asians, Africans, Native Americans, Northern and Western Europeans, among many others. It’s common among adults and not dangerous. Yet, it can be a source of consternation and cause intestinal diseases – celiac sprue being one of them.
