The official date of Wesley Snipes' release is 13 July 2013. He began his three-year prison sentence on 9 December 2010, so in fact he would serve two and a half years.

This story actually goes back to 2006, when Snipes and others were accused of failing to file their tax returns. After that there were a number of appeals and other complications - he was first convicted in 2008, then lodged an appeal, and was finally sentenced in 2010.

Before his prison sentence, Snipes was an actor and martial artist best known for his roles in the Blade films. Now that his sentence has only about a year to run, and there is talk of a further appeal as well, people are beginning to wonder whether he will go back to films when he gets out of prison. This speculation grew stronger when Spike Lee recently visited Snipes; is the director interested in working with the former star?
