Is it dangerous to touch cats while pregnant?

Pregnant women are advised not to handle cat litter because it contains toxoplasmosis. Toxoplasmosis is a parasite that can cause deformities of a unborn baby.
However, it is safe to pet a cat or feed a cat as long as you wash your hand throughly afterwards. Also, if your cat is an indoor cat and only eat canned cat food, the risk of toxoplasmosis can be lowered.
