Like hair on other parts of the body, nasal hair has a protective function. It's particularly important as it acts as a filter to the air that we breathe in, and helps to prevent harmful particles from entering our bodies through our breathing. It also protects against sunburn and minor cuts and bruises, and helps sweat to evaporate.

Nasal hair works together with mucus, which acts as a secondary barrier and catches any pathogens or harmful foreign bodies that get past the nose hair. If you sneeze, that is usually because your nasal hairs and mucus barrier are trying to get rid of a substance that they see as harmful.

So even if it's tempting to tweezer out unsightly nasal hairs, you shouldn't overdo it - those hairs are there for a reason. Using special nasal clippers is probably a better idea, but in any case you should be cautious.
