It is said that they first met at a party held after a Golden Globes award ceremony in January 2007. At that time Timberlake had only recently split up from his former girlfriend, Cameron Diaz, who was also at the party. Whether Timberlake and Biel got very friendly at the party or were just chatting has not been told. Anyway, they started dating soon after this and by May were regularly seen together in public and travelling together. In 2008 they were very much a couple, and both worked publicly together to endorse Barack Obama's presidential election campaign.
From 2009 there began to be rumours that the couple were splitting up, and for a while in 2011 this actually happened. However, the split lasted only a few months and by the end of the year they were engaged (Justin is said to have proposed just before Christmas).
They were married on 19 October 2012.
