Exercise can help your body to adjust to the changes imposed by pregnancy (e.g. Increasing bump) and preparing you for labour. It can also help you to avoid constipation, swollen ankles, varicose veins, backache and etc. While most pregnant women benefit form exercising, its better for you to discuss your exercise plan with your midwife or your doctor.

Exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, cycling, tennis, badminton can help with stamina. You will find yourself not be able to do more strenuous exercise by five to seven months. You can choose more gentle yoga movement to improve mussel tone. In some areas, there are special yoga classes and water-based 'aqua-natual' exercise for pregnant women. Note: Always check that the trainer is qualified for teaching pregnant women.

If you are not a regular exerciser, you need to take the exercise gently, but if you already do regular exercise, usually you will be able to continue the routine until the later stage of pregnancy. Its important to update your midwife your exercise plan.

Always warm up with gentle stretches before exercising and cool down again afterwards. Remember to drink water (regular small sip) before, during and after exercise.
