Carbohydrate rich foods such as wholemeal bread, high fibre cereals, pasta, banana are considered to be able to ease depression. In a stressful situation, try to avoid low fat or low carbon diets as those have been linked with suicide and depression.

Foods like brazil nuts, salmon, Sardines, mackerel, canola oil, chickpeas, spinach, peas, chicken, liver and turkey are also good to help beat depression.

You can also try dark chocolate as it contains phenylethylamine which is a chemical that can makes you feel better.

Sometimes, spicy food can help to release pleasure-boosting endorphins in the brain. Go for some chilli masala when you are stressed :)
