You could start by getting a taste of Spanish online for free, to see if you like it and think you will be able to study it. If you put 'Spanish beginner' in a search engine you will find a number of free sites with exercises and materials. A good place to start is the BBC website - if you subscribe (it's free) you will get a weekly email with new words to learn, and on the site there are sets of short exercises practising travel, small talk etc.

Then you could get a book with CD and/ or DVD - there are plenty to choose from - and when you've got some basics, start looking for a course or, if you can afford it, a private teacher. Spanish is a major world language and courses should be relatively easy to find. You can enquire in your nearest community or adult learning centre, or your local college. You could also consider enrolling on an online course or, to keep costs down, finding someone to chat to you in Spanish on Skype. You may even manage to find someone willing to do this free in exchange for English practice - in Spanish this is called 'intercambio' and is quite popular.
