Spider-Man , one of the most popular characters of the Marvel comics was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko in 1962.

At that time they wouldn't have even dreamt that the character could have reached the level of acclaim and popularity he has today.

Spider-Man was supposed to be just a fill-up of another magazine, Amazing Fantasy #15 (August, 1962), but the answer from the public was so positive that they had to continue publishing it in a second issue named after him, Amazing Spider-Man #1.
