Is there a simple way to release my negative emotions?

The simplest way of all is probably to take a piece of paper and write down, for about five minutes, all the things that are annoying and upsetting you. Then have a look and think - could some of these things be changed, or could I deal with them in another way so they won't upset me so much?

This may help you to feel fewer unpleasant emotions in the first place, but in the end we all have feelings we want to get rid of. A simple technique, often practised in yoga and meditation, is to lie down comfortably and breathe deeply and slowly in and out for a few minutes. When you feel comfortable with the rhythm of that, start to imagine that every time you breathe in, you are taking in positive energy, and every time you breathe out, you are expelling your negative feelings. After a few more minutes you should start to feel more peaceful.

If this is difficult to do on your own, you could try a few yoga sessions and ask the teacher to give you some extra help with these feelings.
